I wonder if these sentences are correct? This book is able to be translated. That law is able to be evaded some people say the two sentences are wrong , 'be ale to 'should be replaced by 'be capable of ' I truely doutb it , I think 'be able to ' here is also correct, though 'be able to ' and 'be capable of ' have slightly different meanings.

The people are right. You must use "capable". The book can be translated. The book is capable OF BEING translated. I just corrected the other mistakes. The sentence about being evaded is nonsense.

I would be careful about using "evade" with "the law," as it may imply criminality, e.g. evasion of taxes.
