It is a case that fits twelve jars of peanuts. Just like a fifty-car parking lot is a parking lot that will fit fifty cars. It is common to use the number of items as a unit of volume: 2-barrel shot gun 5-passenger vehicle 9-judge court panel 30-student classroom etc. etc.

I've never heard of this. Or putting peanuts other than peanut butter into jars. I imagine it means a case of 12 peanut jars, unless it's from an older text and has an outdated meaning.
