What is the difference between castigate and admonish. both convey similar senses.

The word "admonish" generally means to warn someone that what they did was wrong. The word "castigate" is much stronger. I might admonish a child who made a wrong decision but if a responsible adult did the same thing I might castigate the person for setting a poor example.
