the meaning of 'star'
I had never seen such a multitude of stars before.
Does 'stars' in the above sentence refer to famous actors or distant bodies that can be seen at night as a point of light in the sky?
Since ''multitudes'' is used, it is more probable that it has been used for the stars in the sky. ''multitudes'' is generally a large number with a meaning of ''bulk'' to it. Thus it is not very often used with living people.
