A grammer question about THOUGH when it is in the middle of a sentence. I wonder the correct usage of 'though' when it is placed in the middle of a sentence. Could anyone help check the correctness of the following sentences? 1. The idea, though sounding impractical, is still within the realms of possibilities. 2. The idea, though sounds impractical, is still within the realms of possibilities. 3. The idea, despite sounding impractical, is still within the realms of possibilities. 4. The idea, though impractical superficially, is still within the realms of possibilities.

#1 and #3 are correct. The other two are wrong.

A native speaker would probably.... rephrase 1. & 2. to say: The idea, though IT SOUNDS impractical, is still within the realm of possibilities. be fine with 3. Note: The emphasis in this sentence is on the apparent impracticality. (In other words, this sentence makes the "idea" sounds MORE impractical than other constructions.) 4. The idea, though SUPERFICIALLY impractical, is still within the realms of possibilities.

這裡“though” 表示 “although” 的意思。還有,"realm of possibilities" 跟“realms” 比較好 -- 可能性的境界算是一個境界, one realm
