what is "being" when or how should i use "being" ?

being (noun) = a person or creature that exists "A nuclear war would kill millions of living beings." "Strange beings from outer space are still a popular subject for sci-fi films." being (noun) = the state of existing "We do not know exactly how life first came into being (= began to exist.)" being (verb) = present participle of "be" (be, being, is, are, was, were, been) "Being afraid of the dark, she always slept with the light on."
