Between the two, choose sentence 1). The use of "being" in 2) implies that the pedestal's whiteness is a temporary situation (ie. only at this moment). That doesn't really make sense, given the rest of the sentence.

Number 1 is the best out of the two. You can also replace because with "for", but it's pretty understandable as it is :D.
