How did you learn of that?...sounds a bit outdated. Are you reading Shakespeare or something? How did you hear about that?...fine. Where did you learn that. How did you learn ABOUT that.

Yes, they are the same. Interestingly, you can also say 'how did you hear of that' and it still means the same. It is less common though.
