What's the difference between them? How long since you've been here? How long have you been here?

The top one is talking about when you have to a place you have been before so it means how long has it been since you were last here. The second one is asking how long have you been in that particular place since you arrived.

First question will be answered by since and second one could be by for. So the rule of for and since. 1) I have been here since january... 2) i have been here for three month... "Since" go with a specific time and "for " go with a length of time.
