I am not so familiar with Korean, can anybody help? What exactly does 합니다 hamnida mean? And how is it usually used?

합니다 means " I do, he/she does, it does, we do!! " variety of meanings. End of the verbs, ending in " 하다 ", is joined by this.

If it's '입니다' itself you're asking, it means 'is'.
