Pump up Hi, all Is "pump up" a phrase used to describe "to get ready" only referring to sports? Thanks!

It doesn't only have to refer to sports. It means to "heighten excitement or to put emphasis on" "We need to pump up our fundraising efforts." "The company really pumped up their advertising this year." We also say "pump up the volume", which means "turn it up." (This might be a little outdated, but I still hear it occasionally. It's also a movie/song title.
