What does the meaning of... In a english text I found the following expressions that I don´t understand: 1) took heart - many took heart from a visit by Nelson Mandela's daughter Zindzi 2) rallied in the face - Although Mr Mandela has rallied in the face of past health scares 3) to cherish his enduring - urging South Africans to cherish his enduring achievements If somebody could explain me I would be thanked joaquim duarte

1) took heart = was/were encouraged. 2) rallied in the face of X = gathered strength despite X 3) to cherish his enduring achievements = to remember, in an affectionate manner, his long-term successes Also... "If somebody could explain these to me, I would be thankful" (Sorry, the grammar mistakes in your sentence were a little comical.)
