sport, I'm reading a novel, came across a sentence as follows: "Dr. Durkee isn't positive, but it looks like you might have a mild form of epilepsy, sport. Now, it's not as scary as it sounds." what does "sport" mean here?

"Sport" is used here to mean "buddy", "pal" or "mate". We use this form of casual address is Australia, though it sounds a little old now.
