the Beijing accent is quite similar with common spoken Chinese, so if you can understand it, it will not be hard to understand the commeon spoken Chinese. And most of Chinese can understand the common sopken Chinese although some of them could not speak well. most of people will speak the common sopken Chinese when they leave their hometown, so more and more Chinese are speaking the common sopken Chinese .

北京话很接近普通话，但相对来说，普通话听起来更舒服。北京话听起来会觉得有一点点吵，语调偏高一些。不过这也取决于个人习惯，萝卜白菜各有所爱啊！你要听普通话可以看中央台的新闻联播。

我个人在北京生活五年，蛮喜欢听北京话的，一是因为全国人民都听得懂；二是地道的北京话听起来很顺（就是那种该快的时候快，该强调的地方又慢的感觉），当然北京郊区农民说的那北京土话就不中听了，那叫难听；如果你去看《大宅门》，还可以听到很多老北京人说得京腔。

说实话，儿话音太重了，不太好听，我认识的人都这么说。
奇怪的是，北京人自认为很好听，而且相信自己的口音很接近普通话，很标准。
