what is different between "on my own" and "by myself" ex. I often go to movies theaters on my own; I often go to movies theaters by myself.

Well, they both mean "alone." The difference is really personal taste. Songs: All by Myself (Eric Carmen) / On My Own (from Les Misérables) PS: "to movie theatres" (adjectives don't become plural) or "to the movies" are the proper phrases.
