Preposition + verb-ing ...we are now much closer TO enjoyING "a relaxing and quiet" time stacked in a traffic jam e.g. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I mean, I know there are some structures with preposition + verb-ing constructions, but I don't know how to recognise them, so I usually write TO + verb in infinitive and make this kind of mistakes. Can you help me?

Very simple. If you can replace the gerund (verb-ing) with a noun, then the gerund is correct.
