at my mercy The moment for which I had waited so long had at last come. I had my enemies within my power. Together they could protect each other, but singly they were at my mercy. I did not act, however, with undue precipitation. What does the phrase mean here? Thanks

"at my mercy" = they cannot stop me from doing whatever I want to them. Only your mercy, decision to be kind to them will limit what you do to them.

Hi Joy, The term is used to describe that the character in the story could have power over each one individually, but not as a group.
