The word "gravitas" Hello, everyone! Could you please explain me the word "gravitas" here and the meaning of the whole phrase? "The campus possessed a shabby gravitas that was only possible with age and affluence."

it sounds like the author is mocking the people living on this campus. Gravitas refers to a seriousness about a person or thing. You want people with gravitas to make decisions about going to war, for example. You want a person with gravitas to make serious medical decisions.
