what does "its being the source' mean? Ordinary consumers can own a copy of the highly valued originals. Therefore, the value of the original results not only from its uniqueness but from its being the source from which reproductions are made. 1)what does "its being the source' mean? 2)what does it refer to?

The original is valuable not only because it's unique, but because the reproductions are made from it. It is the source for the reproductions. "It" refers to the original.
