What's the meaning of the following sentence?
Indexing and abstracting services depend on the accuracy of the title, extracting from it keywords useful in cross-referencing and computer searching. Does the latter part mean :the keywords are extracted from the title, and the keywords are useful in cross-referencing and computer searching? and what is cross-referencing? Is it done within the paper or across papers?

You are correct! The latter part means the keywords are extracted from the title. Cross-referencing is when a document refers to another piece of information in the same document. So for example, a dictionary with a note that tells you where to look for more information.
