According to the dictionary it means 1) to cheat, and 2) to be about, to be almost to. Can somebody give a few examples of this second meaning? Thanks.

كاد الرجل أن يغرق لولا أن قمت بإنقاذة
Kad el rajol an yaghriq lola qomto bi inqazih.
كاد الفريق أن ينتصر في اللحظة الأخيرة
Kad el fariq an yanitasir fi el lahiza el akhira.
كاد المريض أن يموت لولا أن أنقذة الطبيب
Kad el marid an yamot lola an anqazaho al tabib.
