What is a cat doing?
A cat is rubbing its face against its master's face and purring.
I am looking for an English equivalent for the Russian verb "ластиться".

Hi Iris,
Going by your description alone, because (of course) I don't know the Russian word, I'd suggest the verb 'to fawn':
'If an animal such as a dog or cat fawns on/upon you, it is very friendly towards you and rubs itself against you'.
