'We confirmed now they are not Asian looking males.'grammar error in it? I quote this sentence from when a Malaysian official are answering questions about the lost Malaysian airliner. 'Comfirmed now' seems self-contradictory. should it be better by 'we have confirmed now. '

On the one hand, yes the sentence could have been more technically correct. However, there are a few things to think about... 1) This is a spoken quote. 2) If you had listened to his statements, you'd realise quite quickly that he is not a native English speaker (however, his English is very good in spite of his strong accent). 3) It's not a good look to be critical of another person's (non-native) English skills when you make so many mistakes in your own writing. I'm sure you could have worded your question a little more thoughtfully.

You are right. It would either be "we have now confirmed that" OR "We have confirmation now that"

Yes, "have confirmed" would be better. Also "Asian-looking".
