where is the best expression when i talk about surprise in the past i got surprise or i surprised ? thanks in advance

It depends on the context. There could be a few ways. I was surprised by his answer. I got a surprise on my birthday. I surprised him on his birthday.

You can say: I was totally surprise, when I saw him. Or you can also say: I was surprised, when I saw her. Was make your sentences past tense. Note: surprise is present tense; while surprised is past tense. Surprised is regular verb, regular verb ends with 'ed'
