I understand you feel nervous about speaking English with strangers. However, this is better as it means you will practise your speaking skills. Perhaps you had to high expectations of yourself and then felt bad about it. This is normal :) Instead, help yourself out by starting off with short conversations for about 10-15 minutes is enough. I suggest prepare a list of things you are familiar with or a topic you are familiar with such as a news article in your language and in English. You can send this to the other person, so both of you have something to talk about that is the same thing.
Please as Vivi says do not give up, instead, get back to talking on Skype etc, the more you do it every week the better it will become. Gillian
I think my English grammar and vocabulary are not too bad but I dont know why I can't speak English :( I tried to speak English with other people on Yahoo messenger and Skype...but it was difficult to talk with someone I did'nt know and our habits are not similar :( Up to now I will only speak about simple things or answer some simple questions. If you dont mind, please give me some advice to help me improve my English speaking skill.
