Can the お prefix indicate an ON or KUN reading? I was practising translating a fairy tale from Japanese into English when the following sentence came up: ...珊瑚と真珠でおおわれた人魚のお城がありました。 Normally when a kanji stands alone it's usually the Kun reading. However i was in doubt about the お城. Can the お cause a On reading? お城 = おしろ 対 お城= おじょう Thanks!

Usually お indicates Kun reading, and ご(御) indicates On reading. There are some exceptions (like mixed words), but お城 would read おしろ.
