pass out of mystery What does "passed out of its mystery" mean in the following? " Whatever we can understand and control ceases to be a mystery. The processes of agriculture, the food we eat, the clothes we wear and our social relations were all at one time under the domain of religion and its high priests. Gradually they have passed out of its control and become subjects for scientific study. "

I think you mean what does "passed out of its control" mean. The author is talking about the domain of religion (and its high priests) which controlled daily life.
