Is it right to use the present perfect in this sentence? Which is better to use in the following sentence, the present perfect or the past simple? 1) I did German at school, but I have forgotten most of it now. 2) I did German at school, but I forgot most of it now. Which is correct?

You're talking about now, so use present perfect.

Peachy gave you the correct answer. Present perfect. In America, we don't say, "I did German..." We say, "I took German..." I don't know if this is different from other English-speaking countries, but I thought I would point this out to you.
