for car washing Hello, everyone! I have an English question !! Notice forbidding the open-air drying of clothes ,or the use of water points for car washing, or those inviting'our camping friends' to a dance or a boat trip are printed not only in French or Italian or Spanish, but also in English, German and Dutch. I wonder know why it's not " for washing car" but" for car washing" in this sentence? Thanks in advance: D

In this particular sentence it could be said either way. If you were to say it the other way you would say "or the use of water points for washing cars," but the meaning and tone would stay the same.
