Generally speaking, a salary is quoted on an annual basis and the person that receives a salary does not have to keep track of his hours worked. Usually professionals tend to receive a salary. A wage is quoted on an hourly basis and the worker must keep track of each hour worked in order to get paid for them. Pay is a more generic term and could apply to either scenario.
