Emigration is a movement of people away from a place, immigration is the movement of people into a place.

emigration = ex + migration immigration = in + migration Emigration is about the people who are leaving a country. Immigration is about the people who are coming to a country. As verbs, you [emigrate from] your old country, and [immigrate to] your new country.
