what does "squeeze the breath out of me" mean? The context: " I used to love giving my mother a present on Mother's Day. It always made her cry. Then she'd hug me hard enough to squeeze the breath out of me"

In this sentence, the mother is so happy to receive a present that she hugs her child too tightly. When you hug someone too tightly you can force air to come out of his or her lungs.
