Christmas Day It is the first time I live in England to celebrate Christmas Day. My friend promised me to come here to have a trip with me. Unfortunately, his visa has refusalled. I have to cencel all of planning. Now I have no idea in the Xmas Day. Before that I have thought to come back to China, because I won't stay alone in a foreign country. Actually, I am still no sure now. For west countries' people, how do you celebrate Xmas Day? Have a trip? Or stay at home with family? If you are a foreigner in England, what will you plan in your 3 weeks holiday? Come back to your country? Or have a trip? And I really want to konw what gifts will you give to your friends?

For me, the holidays are a time to get together with family and loved ones in order to catch up and celebrate a new year with each other. I always go back home to my family and spend time with them. :)

In your case, I would say Christmas is most comparable to Chinese New Year. They are both a time of long journeys home to see family, a time for tradition, a time of giving and a time for eating and large celebration. Are you working or studying in England? You should find local friends and tell them the situation you are in. If they are nice enough and willing, then they may invite you to their homes around Christmas time. You can bring them a small gift to show your appreciation.
