Back in 2014? or in 2014. What's the difference between them and when to use them? I studied in Istanbul in 2014. I studied in Istanbul back in 2014. Hi guys. Which one is correct and which one isn't? and why? and I saw an american guy speaking back in 90s there was blah blah. So please tell me when to add "Back"! Thanks for your help in advance! Cheers, Hyunwook

You use 'back' when you want to emphasize that it was a long time ago.
