The word 'state' occurs far less frequently(or often) than the word 'country' based on Google searches. There are 100000 hits for the former compared with 1200 for the latter.

Susan's wording is perfect.
The only thing I'd add is that the logical is the wrong way round, unless I'm confused. If there are 100,000 hits for the former ('state'), than it occurs more frequently.
Or maybe I'm reading it wrong, that's always possible!
