Hi ! "C'est-à-dire" is equivalent to "Autrement dit" in French. It can be translated in English by "That is ..." or "In other words ..." Un exemple : "C'est une course en solitaire, c'est-à-dire sans équipage et sans assistance." (from WordReference.com)
