meglio risposta: Anche se ormai nell'uso comune sono quasi diventati sinonimi, "infatti" e "in effetti" hanno significati contrapposti. "Infatti" è una sorta di conferma ("credevo che quel mio amico sarebbe venuto a trovarmi e INFATTI è venuto"), mentre "in effetti", vorrebbe in realtà dire "in realtà", "al contrario" ("lo credevo un amico e in effetti si è dimostrato il contrario"). Però nell'uso comune, come ho detto, "in effetti" tende a confermare e non a smentire, come "infatti".

"Infatti" si usa più spesso nel parlato quotidiano, ma nella maggior parte dei casi si possono usare come sinonimi.
