Is there any pattern to Russian syllable stress? I read that words adopted from French usually stress the last syllable. English syllable stress also follows a loose pattern. Is there anyway to predict the stress in Russian words?

Привет! Насколько я помню,STRESS - буквально переводится НАПРЯЖЕНИЕ. Вместо слова СТРЕСС по-русски можно сказать НАПРЯЖЕНИЕ. Возможно и применение слова ПОТРЯСЕНИЕ.

there is no strict rules to use stress. you can find right pronunciation in vocabulary or just listen words (i think the most right way to listen news but they are make mistakes sometimes) :). also it depends on which regoin of russia speaker from. when you read a poems you could stress unusual syllable to makes sounds better.
