how to explain to foreigners how we take days off on National holiday(10/1) Yesterday i was explaining to a foreign friend over the phone how we take days off on our national holiday(10/1). Finally i have to ask him to watch the calendar on Windows so that i can illustrate how it works. Anyway it is complicated even to some chinese. Can any english speaker help to polish my explannation? We have 3 days off on National holiday,and plus two weekends, we have 7 days off in total. And the government wants us to have 7 days off in a row, (aka, golden week). As a result, we need to stagger working time to make that happen. Like this year, we will work on 9/27 and 9/28, which are weekend days. but we will have the next two days off to make it up, and then 10/1 -10/3 are public holidays, after that, comes weekend again. so in this sense, we have a golden week...... But again, each year is different......
