"Searching" is the process. "Finding" is the successful result. "I searched everywhere for my eyeglasses. I searched for them in the bedroom. I searched for them in the bathroom. I searched for them in the kitchen. Finally, I found them in the living room." "I enjoy word search puzzles. Usually I can find all of the words within five minutes."

First, you "search for" something or "search" a database or other organised data structure. If your search is successful, you "find" something specific.
