Do we say 'application letter'? I want to join a club. I need to hand in the application letter tomorrow. Should I just say '..hand in the application' without 'letter'? Thank you!

Yes, you would usually just say "application" without "letter". But is it a special template that the club gave you? In that case we call it a "form". "Hand in the application form"
