1. In your sentence, "you" failed to read. So you have to say "I failed", not "it failed"
2. To make this sentence correct, you can connect the two parts with "and":
- I tried to read the grammar book at this morning, and [I] failed.
- I tried (and failed) to read the grammar book at this morning.

None of them are quite right. I would say "Although I tried to read the grammar book this morning, I failed". Very close though :)
