Is this correct "in school" ? I read a sentence from book "In some countries, the parents expect children to spend long time in studying both in and after school and have less free time." I don't understand that why the prep is " in", I think it should be "at school" right?

We say both "in school" and "at school." They are both correct and mean the same thing.
