Different meanings between sort and class I am being confused of a problem that what the different meanings between sort and class Sentence:No two sorts of birds practise quite the same sort of flight, the varieties are infinite ;but two classes may be roughly seen Thanks :D

In this context, a "sort" of bird would mean a species, or at least a family of birds, such as seagulls. A "class" would mean a set of birds, not necessarily taxonomically related, that share some characteristic or behaviour, in this case, the way they fly. But it could be colour, size, mating habits or anything else.
