What is the meaning of "ni" in the following sentence?
A poněvadž jsem neměl s sebou mechanika a ni cestující, chtěl jsem se do té nesnadné opravy pustit sám.

It´s supposed to be typed together "ani" and it means "neither....or"
The sentence translation is:
"Since I didn´t have neither a mechanic or a passenger with me, I wanted to do the difficult repair by myself".

It's a typing error (my opinion) or really obsolete language.
my correction:
