What does "して" mean in this sentence? Hi, could someone help me? I can't understand the meaning of "して" in the sentence below. My translation is: 藤岡は出かけるじゅんびをして、それから、メールを見ます。 "Fujioka gets ready for going out, and then checks e-mails." Could someone help me? Thank you!

it's a common conjunction showing that A action was done before B action. without conjunction: 藤岡は出かけるじゅんびをします。それから、メールを見ます。 after having the preparation made, i will read the e-mail/message.

して = finish something first, then after doing next thing In this case、 藤岡さんはfinish ready to go out, then after checking e-mail.
