I would recommend "Heart of a Dog" by Mikhail Bulgakov. Easy to read  mit feinsinnigem Humor (don't know how to say it in English :))
The Red and the Black by Stendhal. Interesting roman with moments from French history. But pretty big book:)
Der Kontrabaß by Patrick Süskind. Monologue by unlucky double bass player with good humour.
