A French TV show/ Drama Series Recommendation? Hi, I just started learning French, and wonder what TV series do you guys watch. I would like to follow a series of 10-20 episodes, and hopefully I can find it on youtube or elsewhere online. The reason I ask is that I found learning language through a comedy TV show is extremely productive, and helps a lot with listening. Thanks, Lucy

I really like to have subtitles while learning another language soooo.... If you have Netflix - All of their original series have a French audio and closed caption option. I've found it to be very helpful to watch shows I like (such as OITNB and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) with french audio AND french subtitles. It's been hard for me to find French TV shows that I was really into/that had closed captioning to help me better understand.

Thanks John. Have you got an idea if Netflix has it at all. Or where I can find it online? Best, Lucy

Lately I've been watching this 90's show called Extr@ (Extra). I think it's specifically for people learning French. Dialogue is easy, have learned a lot of good phrases. While subtitles can seem to help, oftentimes they're kind of crippling; what happens is that even if the subtitles are French, you really just end up working on your reading skills. It shoots your listening skills in the foot. I suggest alternating watching with/without subtitles. John Mikel C.
