I disagree with Sudsey. The saying which confirms what Princess is asking is 'Out of sight, out of mind.' Yes Princess this is true, once people leave for interstate/overseas most are so caught up in their new life and surroundings that they forget the people they left behind.

In English there is an expression, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." This is the opposite of what you are saying, that those who are far from your eyes are closer in your heart.
