different between { e , ed } in italian they r mean and but what 's different in using these?

Hallo, i'm riccardo and i'm trying to learn english. the difference between (e, and ed) is that i use ed before nouns that begin with the vowel "e" and e for another cases. for example : (io e Giuseppe) ; (Io ed Emanuele). I hope that it's clear
